As part of our Global Art Sense of Caring project, our class learned about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. by reading books about his life and sharing our ideas with each other about how we could make our classroom a peaceful, caring place.
We each wrote an essay titled:
"If Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., were standing beside me, he would notice that I..."

For our Pullman community celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s Birthday in January 2001, we created a 12 foot mural of our class standing side by side together as friends and titled it "Children Side By Side Being Caring About One Another". Our mural was on display at the community YWCA celebration. Here is what our mural looked like:

We received special recognition from the YWCA and the Mayor of Pullman for our Side by Side mural and our Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. essay about great leaders.

As part of learning about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., we learn about how our world is a multicultural world.we study our multicultural world all year long. Each person in the class made a multicultural hands poster using our multicultural crayons. Click on the image below to see more of the posters.
In our classroom we are caring and sharing. We did a Global Art Sense of Caring Project with iEARN school friends from around the world. Here are some pictures of our happy and peaceful classroom.
