November 13, l998 Dear Mrs. Rennebohm Franz and students, It's difficult to find the perfect words to express all the gratitude and happiness we are feeling in our hearts. Yesterday at 12 noon (8:00 am Pullman), we received your beautiful quilt from hands of the TV weather news reporter in front of the cameras in the TV station, TeleOnce. Our school counselor, five students from the school (who were severely affected by the hurricane) and our mom and us received with emotion your unique and lovely gift. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!! You are so talented and special!!! For sure, all of you fulfilled your wish to make us HAPPY!!! We are going to spread this happiness to all the children in Puerto Rico who were affected by the hurricane. We are going to visit the shelters and show your quilt to everyone. We are planning to donate your masterpiece to "El Museo del Nino" (the Children's Museum) in the city of San Juan (our capitol). Your quilt will be in exhibition at our school. All the students, around 500, will have the opportunity to see your quilt. They'll know about you and your lovely way to express that you care for other children far, far away who suffered from Hurricane Georges. Tell your parents and everyone who helped you in making the quilts that we are very grateful for all. We consider us lucky to have friends like you in Pullman, Washington! Your smiles traveled a long, long way and we feel your love definitively. Take care. With love your friends in Puerto Rico. |
