In the 1994-95 school year, we made a water habitat quilt with friends at Kimball Elementary School in Seattle, Washington and Escuela de la Costa in Puerto Madryn, Patagonia, Argentina.
At each school, first and second grade children made quilt squares about the water habitats of their community. We exchanged the quilt squares and each school made a quilt.
Here is our water habitat quilt with squares from Sunnyside Elementary School, Kimball Elementary School, and Escuela de la Costa.
Here are two squares from Escuela de la Costa showing their Southern Right Whales. Puerto Madryn is on the Atlantic Ocean coast of Argentina.
Here are two quilt squares from Kimball Elementary. The first one shows Puget Sound and Mt. Rainier.
The second one shows the drawbridge over the canal waterway in the city.
Here are two squares from Sunnyside Elementary School. The first one shows a bird's eye view of the ponds and road to the park.
The second one shows the class walking to the ponds.
We like having the water habitat quilt in our classroom!
