Our Pond Photo Journal

November 16, 1999

We are almost at the pond.

You can see the big pond.

You can see evergreen trees.

You can see trees with fall leaves.

You can see trees without leaves.

You can see the tall grass by the road.

This is the island in the big pond.

You can see a willow tree on the island.

The willow tree leaves are turning yellow and falling off the tree.

The island has been rebuilt.

Now the island is bigger.

We helped plant grass seed on the new island.

This is the big pond at Sunnyside Park.

You can see one end of the island.

You can see fall trees.

The water is smooth with some ripples.

It was cold and a little windy at the big pond.

There were only two or three ducks at the big pond!!!

We wondered where all the ducks were!!!!!

We went to look for the ducks!

First, we followed the stream to the little pond.

This is a picture of the stream.

The stream had lots of leaves in it.

The stream had lots of water in it.

The stream goes from the big pond to the little pond.

The leaves are blocking the water in the stream.

The water is flooding out on the grass.

This is a close-up picture of the leaf dam.

There is a pool of water behind the leaf dam.

There is only a small trickle of water coming out of the leaf dam.

This is a picture of the little pond.

The water was smooth.

We found the ducks!!

There were a few ducks in the water!!

There were more ducks on the shore!!

It was warmer at the little pond because the little pond is down the hill from the big pond.

The hill protects the little pond from the wind.

There were ducks sitting on the shore.

The ducks had their beaks tucked into their wings to sleep and maybe to keep warm.

This male mallard duck had its beak tucked into its wing.

It was just sitting on the water.

Maybe it was sleeping.

This picture shows two male mallard ducks and one female mallard duck with their beaks tucked into their wings.

They are sitting on the water.

Maybe they are sleeping.

One mallard duck is swimming.

This is a close-up picture of two mallard ducks.

They are sitting on the water with their beaks tucked into their wings.

It was cold!!!!

BRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!

The farm ducks were at the farm near the park.

They were near a little pool of water at the farm.
