Quilt Math 2000- 2001

Days of School Quilts

We count the days of our school year using quilt patches! Our First Days of School Math Quilt this year was our Ladybug Quilt...

A Ladybug Quilt The first patch on the ladybug quilt marked the first day of school. Each day we added a patch to the quilt and watched the quilt grow! The pattern of patches in this ladybug quilt makes a song melody! As we made this quilt, we also learned about ladybugs! Click here to learn about our Ladybug Science.

Our Second Days of School Quilt is our Magic Tree House Quilt!

Magic Tree House Quilt: Our second Days of School Quilt was called the Magic Tree House Quilt because each patch is for one of the Magic Tree House Books by Mary Pope Osborne. When we were building this quilt, we were reading the Magic Tree House Books during storytime every day. We really, really like these books and the quilt!

Our Third Days of School Quilt is our Star Quilt!

Star Quilt: Our third days of school quilt is called the Star Quilt because we studied the solar system and space when we were building this quilt. There are lots of shapes and patterns in this quilt. We learned about squares, triangles, and parallelograms when we built this quilt

Our Fourth Days of School Quilt is our Winter Quilt!

Winter Quilt: Our Winter Quilt is our Fourth Days of School Quilt. We were building this quilt during our co-o-old winter months in Pullman. It has a pattern of patches, fabrics and shapes. The pattern of fabrics makes a song melody that we play on our chimalong!

Our Fifth Days of School Quilt is our Color Quilt!

Color Quilt:ltWe have finished our Color Quilt. We measured the patches by inches and learned about fractions of halves, thirds, and fourths with this quilt! This quilt is very, very colorful with beautiful warm and cool corlors!

Our Sixth Days of School Quilt is a Blue Skies and Butterflies Quilt!

Blue Skies and Butterflies Quilt: Our sixth quilt has six patches in fabrics that look like Spring blue skies and a butterfly pattern. We learned about measuring in inches and centimeters with this quilt. Our quilt makes a song on our chimalong!

Our Seventh and last Days of School Quilt is a Seashore Quilt!

Our last quilt of the school year is a Seashore Quilt. The patches are rectangles with seashells and starfish. We practiced our measurements with this quilt and learend about how quilts have spacers.
