Our Kenya quilt was our 4th days of school quilt. We were learning about Kenya when we made this quilt.
It had 36 patches.
Each patch had two triangles.
There were eight different fabrics in our quilt. Each fabric told a story about Kenya.
We called the first triangle the cheetah fabric. Cheetahs live in Kenya and can run very, very, very fast, fast, fast!
We called the second triangle the golden grasses because during the dry season in Kenya, the tall grasses on the savannah are golden brown.
We called the third triangle the clouds because there are lots of cumulus clouds in Kenya.
We called the fourth triangle green grasses because during the rainy season, the grasses on the savannah are very tall and green.
We called the fifth triangle baobob bark because the fabric pattern looked like tree bark and teh baobob tree is a tree on the grassy savannah in Kenya.
We called the sixth triangle shape designs
because of the pattern of shapes in the fabric.
We called the seventh triangle night stars because on a clear night in Kenya, you can see many, many, many stars!
We called the eighth triangle hot sun because the sun can be very hot in Kenya because Kenya is near the Earth's equator.
