Vermont Sense of Caring Artwork and Writing

We received artwork about caring from our school friends in Vermont. We looked at all their artwork, read the words they wrote about caring. Their artwork and writing told us about their three caring projects that they did in their community. They performed a play called the "Gingerbread Kid Caper" and made gingerbread cookies and cards for people at a nursing home. They made and raffled a Make-A-Wish Foundation Christmas Tree with fabric gingerbread decorations. They made $150 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation to help children with cancer and other diseases have a wish come true for something they would like to do. They made Valentines cards for Veterans. We sent some reply email messages to our friends in Vermont thanking them for their artwork. Click here to read our email messages to them.

Here is their artwork and writing:

The Gingerbread Play

My class went to the nursing home to put on a play about gingerbread men. It was important to got here because the people were too sick to go out. They enjoyed us playing for them. I liked being able to perform for the nursing home.

The Gingerbread Kid Caper

My class went to the nursing home and did a play called "The Gingerbread Kid Caper". We sang and moved our arms and props. We worked hard. We also performed the play in front of five third grade classes. A mom was the director of our play. It was fun!

I am going to tell you about the cookies my class made for the play we did. The play was called "The Gingerbread Caper". We made gingerbread cookies for the play. Everyone in my class made two big gingerbread cookies and some baby gingerbread cookies too. We gave these cookies to the people that we performed for at the nursing home. It was fun making gingerbread cookies! The End

I made a card for the people who live in the nursing home. We took them the card when we went there to do our play about the gingerbread girl. It was fun.

I am writing about what my class did for my Nana's nursing home. We made cards with candy canes attached to them. The gingerbread person [on the card] was holding the candy cane in its hand. And we did a gingerbread play. The cards are little gingerbread people holding canes. We hot glued on eyes that wiggle on the gingerbread people. We also wrote a message inside of the card and signed our name at the bottom. On the other side of the card, we drew a picture. It was fun!

Making Gingerbread Cookies

My class and I made gingerbread cookies. It was fun. Our teacher helped make them. We gave these cookies to the people in the nursing home when we went to perform our gingerbread play. I liked making gingerbread cookies and giving them away to the people at the nursing home.

The Gingerbread Play

I was in a gingerbread play. It was fun. My teacher is nice. I think you would like her too. I made a picture of the gingerbread play in the library. We also performed for the elderly.

Community Service Projects

My class did community service projects and doing them made me feel good about it because we helped people. In November, my class and I decorated a Christmas Tree for the Wish Foundation. We made $150 for kids in the hospital to get a special wish. On the Christmas tree we made gingerbread men and stuffed them. In February, my class made Valentine cards for the Vets and they were all nicely decorated. The Vets are people that were in World War I and World War II. I'm glad we did those projects because they were all fun and they helped people.

Hi! Our class is doing some community projects. The first project we did was decorating a Christmas Tree. We made gingerbread men. They are made from glue and ginger. We also made stuffed gingerbread men. They were cute. We earned $150. That money went to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The Make-A-Wish Foundation is a foundation for kids that have cancer and some other diseases. Another project we did was Valentines for Vets. They had poems in them. It was fun!

Community Service Projects

This year my class and I have done community service projects. We did make a Make-A-Wish Foundation Christmas Tree and we made gingerbread men for it. We sewed the gingerbread men. They were fun to do. We made Valentines for Vets. It was fun doing it because it is nice to do it for people. In February, we did the Valentines for Vets. In November, we did gingerbread men and we put the gingerbread men on a Christmas Tree and raffled it off and we got $150 and we donated it to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. I hope we did a good job.

This is what we did for the Veterans. A Veteran is a person that has been in a war. We made Valentines for the Veterans. We did it because they are lonely and don't get very much company so we want to cheer them up. I think it was important to do this because they have helped save our country. Veterans are very important people.

My class is making Valentines for the Veterans. If you don't know what a Veteran is, I will tell you. A Veteran is a person who fought in wars or helped other countries or states with freedom and gets rid of slavery. The Veterans lived through the war. It is nice to make cards for the Veterans so they will be happy. I hope the Veterans will like our cards.

I made Valentines for Veterans. A Veteran is somebody who fought in a war and survived. Veterans might have fought for other countries. I made the cards so maybe they will be more cheerful. It is important that Veterans get remembered.
