Our Trip to the Pond

September 29, 2000

We walked quietly to the pond.
We saw a whole patch of ducks on the island. A few ducks swam over to us. The other ducks watched them swim but they stayed on the island.

We saw ducks resting in one corner of the island. They were protected from the wind by the willow tree. Maybe they were huddled together to stay warm.

In this picture, you can see mostly female and male mallard ducks resting on the island.

The male mallard duck is
looking at the water. Its beak is yellow. Its head is green. Its body is white and dark brown.

The female mallard duck is floating on the water. It is brown.

This white duck is a farm duck. It was much, much bigger than the other mallard ducks. It was swimming.

The male and female mallard duck are swimming.

We found a plastic bag floating in the water.

The mallard ducks like to swim.

There is a waterfall at Sunnyside Pond. The waterfall makes the water tumble over the rocks!

There are ripples in the water. The wind makes the ripples in the water.
The wind made us feel cold.

The leaves in the trees were changing colors.

The willow branches were taking dips in the water.

The farm duck was preening its feathers next to the island.

We were all sitting down on the wall after we went to the pond. Then we walked back to school.
