Writing Our Global Art Sense of Caring Email Messages

We use our Bird Print Writing Process to write our email messages to our global artist friends in schools around the world. Our Bird print Writing Process includes: Puffin Prewrite, Swan Draft, Egret and Owl Edit, Wren Revise, and Peregrine Publish. We learn keyboarding to help us do our email writing. Take the links to learn more about our writing lessons for the iEARN Global Art Project.

We are learning how to write by our writing our iEARN email messages. First, we use this Puffin Prewrite list to start our replies to our artist school friends. The list includes:

1. Thank you for artwork and writing

2. Compliments on artwork and writing

3. Comments about caring ideas in the artwork and writing of our global friends

4. Comments about our own caring ideas

5. Thoughtful questions for the artists and writers

In our Swan Draft, we work to write complete sentences for each of the Puffin prewrite ideas. Sometimes we work by ourselves and sometimes we work in pairs or small groups to write our messages. In Egret and Owl edit we check our writing for book spellings. In Wren revise, we check our writing for complete sentences and to see if we have a beginning, middle and ending in our writing. In Peregrine Publish, we send our writing "fast" as email!

Writing email messages for the iEARN Global Art Project, helps us learn our first and second grade writing lessons! See WRITE to Care to learn more about how iEARN projects and email help us learn!
