Our Whale Lessons

1.We used books to learn about whales. We used globes to learn about whale migration.
Click on the Books to find out what books we read.
2. We made charts of different kinds of whales like: blue whale, fin whale, sperm whale, humpback whale, right whale, gray whale, orca whale, pilot whale, narwhal and bottlenosed dolphin.
3. We each made a flip picture book of a whale breaching.
4. We each made a paper puzzle with a Pacific Northwest Native American whale design.
5. We colored pictures of different kinds of whales.
6. We each made a little book about different whales.
7. We did a math lesson to learn about how many gallons of milk a baby blue whale drinks each day. A baby blue whale drinks 50 gallons of milk from its mother each day.

8. We went outside and used chalk on the playground hard surface to measure how long real whales are! A blue whale can be 100 feet long! An orca whale is as long as one regular size yellow school bus!
9. We did a whale play for our parents.
10. We made a whale quilt during the first thirty days of school. We added a patch to the quilt every day until the quilt had thirty patches .
